I came across two of your books in a books 'care' parcel from a friend in England. I live on an island in Greece, and perhaps you remember how difficult it is to get cheap English-language books here? I just loved the two that I read and think you marry the tatty new development tourist side so very well as you just take us round the corner,as it were - to find tasty fish and crispy salads. I love the character too - the whiff of the pagan is excellent, and not overdone. Well done, I'm very impressed, so many books written about Greece are toe-curling! Thanks - Louisa

Just found out that your next book is out soon - great! Good to see from your site that are there are others out there as thrilled as I am to read your books! Please keep them coming.
As a Lancashire lad, living in N.Yorks, who has had the same 'Eureka Greek Island' moment you describe, your books combine my love of great detective novels with a need for a regular Greek fix. Afaristo Poli

I am delighted to see that the 4th book will be out in June. Do hurry the publishers along a bit.

I HAVE JUST FINISHED DOCTOR OF THESSALY AND ENJOYED IT AS MUCH AS THE OTHERS. I LOOK FORWARTD TO MORE. AS AN HONORARY 'CRETAN' AND VISITOR TO SEVERAL OTHER GREEK ISLANDS I AM SURE YOU WILL APPRECIATE HOW MUCH I RELISH YOUR STORIES. THEY TAKE ME RIGHT HOME. UNFORTUNATELY THEY MAKE ME WEEP WITH NOSTALGIA FOR KRETA WHICH I REGARD AS MY SECOND HOME. EFFARISTO PARA POLY. BRIAN O SIFFI

Dear Anne
I have recently finished The Doctor of Thessaly, I wasn't disappointed after waiting with great anticipation having read the first 2 in the serious. Are you sponsored by the Greek tourist board, you should be. I hope you are successful with your nomination in the ITV3 crime writer awards you have my vote anyway. I can't wait for the 4th book glad you have finished it, it can't be printed quickly enough for me. Keep up the great work I'm so glad I bought The Messenger of Athens and started on this adventure.
good luck& best wishes

I so enjoy police procedurals and detectives from other countries - Wallander, Brunetti and Zen, Maigret, but I couldn't find a Greek one. Now I have and I've only just started. I'm halfway through The Messenger, travelling to Corfu Tuesday for six weeks with another of your books in reserve. Thanks. It feels as if you love Greece without illusions. I so enjoy the small details as well as your style and the way the plot's developing.

The first book brought back so many memories of my beloved islands that I was always going to buy the other two books as well.
Wonderful. Hermes does believe in suitable, dark punishments, doesn't he?

Dear Anne Zouroudi,
Have just finished 'Midas'. I am not normally moved to thank an author
But as someone with an English father and a Greek mother from Syros in the Cyclades, and somone who has visited so many of the islands, I wanted to thank you for your fine evocation of the islands I know so well.
Notwithstanding the ugliness of some of the touristic development and its many social impacts, which you do not hide from treating head on, you have captured perfectly the beauty and the haunting melancholy which persist. Leading the more fancoful of us to believe (almost) - that in some quiet forgotten corners - the gods still walk the olive groves and Pan still plays...
Spookily,(!) I see you live in the Peak District where I was born and brought up. You may or may not know that it was the Hellenophile Byron who said there are sights in Derbyshire as "noble as in Greece".
Thanks again for bringing me a lot of pleasure.
kind regards
Tim SuttoN

Hi Anne
I've read the first two of your books in book format but have since had a Sony eBook bought for me.
My question is, do you publish this in eBook format or do I still need to purchase the hard/paperback book? I'd love to have it on my eBook to read.
ANNE REPLIES:
Hello Katie, I'm afraid we have no e-book plans at present - so please do buy The Doctor of Thessaly in paperback - it's out now. And many thanks for getting in touch.
